Things I'd like to have
Updated 19 December 2009. As the page title says, this list now includes things that I'm saving up for myself, and/or that I wouldn't realistically hope to receive as gifts. It is, as it says, just a list of things I'd like to have.
I'm still picky - if I've said I want a particular product or model, then I still "want that one!", but there are more 'generic' things on here now that the flat is mostly decorated and furnished.
Finally, as usual, talk to Mother before buying from this list.
- A small (15"?) LCD TV for the bedroom, preferably with a built-in DVD player. Must be TFT (Active Matrix), DigitalTV ready (no point in buying anything that isn't now) and have at least one SCART socket.
- Feather pillows - medium or high, with as much down content as possible.
- A wire cooling rack (for baking).
- 'Magimix-style' food processor. Prefer a low, square base with a wide jug, rather than a tall round arrangement. Doesn't have to be top-of-the-range, just reasonably sturdy. Something like this Kenwood FP735 would be perfect.
- A multi-region DVD recorder with hard disk. I don't need a huge HD - 80GB or 120GB would be plenty, thoug most these days seem to start at 160GB. The number of DVD formats (and regions) it will record and read is more important.
- Whisky glasses, tulip-shaped. Like these from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Not tumblers.
- Pure cotton bedding (double). Plain pale (vanilla) cream duvet-covers and pillow cases - minimal pattern/decoration with no other colour. Fitted sheets (double, to fit 200x140cm IKEA mattress - slightly larger than standard double) in pale (vanilla) cream, pale lilac or dark purple. I have a blue carpet so lilac/purple should be on the blue, rather than the red side.
- Light blue/silver/grey Afghan or blanket - double-bed sized, soft but not 'fleecy'. Wool or other natural fibre if possible.
- AA batteries.
- A Gorilla-Pod tripod.
- Book tokens (as usual)
- Anything off my Amazon Wishlist. Remember that Amazon may not be the cheapest source, though.
- John Lewis own-brand soft leather gloves, unlined, in almost any colour except black and 'wine' but particularly dark green, size 6½. (Yes, I did mean to leave this on from last year - I've decided one can't have too many colours of leather gloves.)
- A dark (grape) purple pashmina.
- 'Luxury' socks from Next. These are great for wearing inside boots.
- Opaque tights in any colour except black - but particularly 'interesting colours' (red, purple, green etc.). Size small.
- Nice waterproof mascara in black and brown.
- Nice body and face scrubs, not too strongly scented.
